Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has decorated the Chief Security Officer of Government House, DSP Abdulganiyu Bello, following his promotion to the rank of Superintendent of Police by the Nigeria Police Force.

The ceremony, held on Thursday at the Government House in Katsina, was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, and family members of the newly promoted officer.

Governor Radda congratulated SP Bello on what he described as a well-deserved promotion, commending his professionalism, loyalty, and dedication to duty.

“SP Bello is a model of professionalism, discipline, and unwavering dedication. Since he assumed duty as my Chief Security Officer, he has demonstrated exceptional competence and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of this administration,” the governor stated.

He urged the officer to sustain the high standards of discipline and integrity that earned him the promotion, while continuing to serve the country with excellence.

Born on January 1, 1980, in Kofar Sauri, Katsina Local Government Area, SP Abdulganiyu Bello joined the Nigeria Police Force in 2000 after training at the Police College, Kaduna.

He has served in several commands and units across the country, including Borno, Zamfara, and Kebbi States, as well as the Force Headquarters in Abuja. SP Bello also participated in Operation Delta Safe in Warri as a Unit Commander and served at the 24 PMF Presidential Villa, Abuja, in 2019.

Between 2021 and 2022, he was Escort Commander to the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and later served as Officer-in-Charge of Defence House, Abuja, escorting then President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.

Following the inauguration of Governor Radda in May 2023, Bello was posted as Escort Commander to the Katsina State Governor before being appointed Chief Security Officer — a position he still holds.

SP Bello has attended leadership courses at the Police Staff College, Jos, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Abuja. He also underwent combat training in Maiduguri and Osun State, and holds a diploma in Crime Management, Prevention, and Control from the Zamfara College of Art and Science.

Governor Radda expressed confidence that SP Bello’s promotion would further motivate him to deliver exceptional service and leadership in his role.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu; Director of DSS; 17 Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. Babatunde Omopariola; and the State Commandant of the NSCDC.

Also present were the wife of the celebrant, Hajiya Muhusina Abdulganiyu; Commissioner for Rural and Social Development, Prof. Abdulhamid Ahmed Mani; Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Nasir Mu’azu; and other senior government officials.
